Pastor Chris Edmonds is serving as our interim pastor.

“Pastor Chris is a sought after speaker and leader who recently retired as Senior Pastor of Piney Grove Baptist Church in Maryville, Tennessee, Pastor Chris works to extend his father’s legacy of choosing good, opposing hate, dignifying life, and expressing love to all. He is a Senior Professional in Human Resources with a business graduate from the University of Tennessee. Pastor Chris also holds a Master of Arts in Religion from Liberty Theological Seminary. He and his high school sweetheart Regina are blessed with three amazing daughters and son-in-laws, and seven of the coolest grandchildren on the planet.”

Steve was born and raised in Knoxville Tennessee and began playing piano at a young age. He played trombone from elementary school through high school. At the University of Tennessee, he was fortunate enough to be able to study music theory and ear training which made a monumental impact on me in choral music. Steve says, “I have been blessed enough to be the music minister of Oakwood Baptist Church since July of 2002. I’ve been married to Kelly since April of 1995 and we live in Halls Tennessee. It has been my honor and privilege to be able to serve on staff at my home church for all these years.”

Laura holds a M. M. in Music Theory from the University of Tennessee and a B. S. in Music Education from Clearwater Christian College. She is a nationally certified teacher of music (NCTM) and has been playing for churches since the age of 8. She enjoys a wide variety of music and loves introducing the congregation to new spiritual songs.

Laura met her husband Carlos at Oakwood. They have a beautiful son and a cat.

Karen Mills has been the Part-time Ministry Assistant at Oakwood since 2008 and a member of Oakwood since 1973. When she is not at work or worship at Oakwood, she works as the Site Coordinator at Hand UP For Women. She is married to Tom and is mom to Eric.

Tom Mills has been the maintenance guy at Oakwood since 2020, when he retired from Elevation Foods. An avid golfer, his spare time is spent on the golf course or running around the yard or around town with his dog, Butch. Tom is married to Karen and is dad to Eric.
